It all started in July, 2008 with no money, no hardware or even software, nothing but an idea scratched out on a Guinness stained bar napkin.

“How,” the T3 founders asked themselves, “Can we fuse technology with mixology? How can we revolutionize the nightlife industry? Make jaws drop and pop?”  Many beers later - still armed with little more than a bar napkin - the T3 team began to flesh out their vision. “Let’s merge bytes with beers!” became their geek speak mantra and T3 was thus conceived.

T3 conducted exhaustive focus group studies and slowly began to gather requirements, hitting the streets and interviewing scores of bar, nightclub and restaurant industry insiders and slowly, the plan evolved to design an innovative touchscreen interface and applications that would seamlessly blend into the décor of any nightlife venue. An interface that would enhance their level of service, increase the quality of entertainment and pump up their revenue.

The T3 team rolled up their sleeves in a basement with laptops and whiteboards and began architecting the system that would be the Touch Taste Technology Platform. They used a combination of software languages involving Ruby on Rails, .NET, Java, Flash, and WPF on various platforms like the Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows  and employed the services of Firestar Interactive as well development teams from Hong Kong and New York.

With a 24/7 development schedule leveraging’s "7 years in the making" drink database - the largest  in the world with over 66,000 drink recipes - the T3 developers laboriously wove together the pieces. From the interface, to the application code through to the data, the T3 team put in thousands of  hours to develop the technology. To this day, they continue to burn the midnight oil in their pursuit of the perfect industry product.

That was just the software…the development of the hardware was even more challenging.
The T3 team researched and studied every single interface technology available and decided on using the natural tactile gestures of touch inspired by innovators like Jeff Han,Microsoft Surface, Apple iPhone, and the Natural User Interface Group as well as Hollywood films like Minority Report and Iron Man.  To determine the best possible technology most suited to work effectively in the boisterous and often punishing environment of bars, nightclubs and restaurants - the T3 team decided on a technology that would recognize touch even with liquids placed on the screen. A purse, a wallet, a glass, a plate, even someone sitting on the screen, whatever was on - or near  - the  screen the technology would recognize the persons fingertip touch.

And thus began the exhaustive prototyping...

They imported parts from Europe and relentlessly scoured the US looking for others. From screens to form factor to reset buttons to card readers to camera's to infrared lights and to multi-dimensional projectors… all the pieces of this digital jigsaw began to slowly fit together. The makeshift T3 basement lab looked like a mix between a mad scientist’s lab, an Irish pub and a Star wars movie set. The team worked day in, day out. Hour upon hour upon hour.  Tempers flared, debates raged endlessly, social lives became nonexistent. Divorces were threatened. Every conceivable obstacle was placed in their path and still, the T3 team pushed on.

Then finally, after an epic six months that seemed like six years, out of a home garage littered with discarded circuit boards, multi-colored wires, shattered screens and bizarre shaped light bulbs. Using simple home workshop tools and an insane array of widgets, digits and wires gathered from around the world, came a floating glass interface with impossible touch interactions and a sleek tableside table with incredible iterations.

Touch Taste Technology Inc was born.
The Guinness stained napkin meanwhile, the progenitor of this interactive revolution, sits forgotten at the bottom of a drawer filled with a hundred other ideas, drawings and designs that may one day, give birth to their very own revolution.
